While much of the 2010 election is focused on the economy, there’s another issue quietly simmering which underscores a shift in the Republican Party: abortion. Specifically, an increasing number of GOP candidates — especially ones receiving heavy support from the Tea Party movement — not only oppose abortion, but want to bar women who have been victims of rape or incest from having access to the procedure.

via As Palin Goes, So Goes The GOP: Growing Number Of Candidates Oppose Abortion In Cases Of Rape, Incest

C&T: I’m speechless.  Bar women who have been victims of rape or incest from having an abortion?  Have they finally lost their collective mind?  Yes, “mind”.  Singular.  And I think I might be exaggerating.  Truly ugly misogyny, approved by the GOP.  WTF.

“I’m a ‘Christian’ sez one…’God will intercede.’

I say: “Go fuck yourself.  Tell that to someone who’s poor, desperate and at the end of their emotional rope.  Or someone the victim of rape or incest.  Why didn’t your God intercede when THAT was going on?  Not gonna get into the “free will” debate.  But I would like to point out it does work both ways.  Either God “intercedes” or he doesn’t.  Can’t have God intercede only when it’s convenient for YOU. P.S. You’re an idiot.”

Tea Party Loves To Scheme…Pyramid, that is

Are you ready to get paid to fight for liberty and help stop liberal tyranny? If so, the TeaPartyBizOpp pyramid scheme is perfect for you! Oh wait, I mean this “first ever patriotic home based business opportunity”, as the website likes to describe it, is perfect for you. It’s a simple way for you to donate money to a worthy political cause, and work from home at the same time! Awesome, right?!?

Not really. Here are a few excerpts from the TeaPartyBizOpp site, explaining why you should join their patriotic crusade:

“Through out this great nations history Many gave there all (including their lives) to fight for our freedom, the very least we can do is give a few dollars!! There out of control spending that is drowning our nation in massive amounts of debt shows that we either have the most incompetent people in American history running our country; who have no clue what there doing, or they know exactly what there doing, and it’s all by design – which means on purpose.”

I’m actually shocked that people keep falling for this crap. Does adding “patriot” to your pyramid scheme somehow make it legit?

It’s a fuckin’ circus of right-wing Teabaggers.  Is that an oxymoron?  Anyway, more scary than an army of clowns, IMHO.

Another Tuesday, another round of Republican primaries pitting self-proclaimed Tea Party candidates against their (sometimes slightly, sometimes considerably) more moderate opponents—and yet another sign that the Glenn Beck brigade is a long way from “taking back the country,” despite all the hype.

We’re only three months away from the midterm election when a shockingly large number of American voters will inexplicably vote for Republican candidates.  I have no idea if this will mean a Republican takeover of the House or Senate or both,  but there will definitely be enough voter support for Republicans to significantly reduce the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate.

Why?  Because too many voters tend to be low-information, knee-jerk Springfield-from-The-Simpsons types,  and the Republicans have lashed their crazy trains to this new wave of inchoate roid-rage to help sweep them into more congressional seats.

Is the Tea Party really racist, or are a few bad apples ruining the bunch? If the Tea Party is trying to unite under a common Libertarian ideology, what does racism have to do with big government and free markets?  Anyone?  Bueller? Bueller?
