Is Vicky Hartzler the most anti-gay House Republican candidate in America?

Hartzler, who’s running in Missouri’s 4th Congressional District, opposes gay marriage, hate-crimes laws, and the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Those positions are common among congressional Republicans. But Hartzler has done more than merely take the standard GOP positions opposing gay rights—she has made a name for herself as an anti-gay crusader.

Is Palin bashing a pre-requisite for an appearance on the new Parker-Spitzer show? Aaron Sorkin referred to Palin as an ‘idiot’ and ‘jaw-droppingly incompetent’ on Monday’s show. And now, Tuesday’s show featured Oliver Stone calling Palin a ‘moron’.

The New GOP Money Stampede – TIME

Money! It's a gas ...Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash...

From Washington to Florida this election season, candidates risk being drowned out by a flood of advertising from a robust new network of little-known conservative political outfits. “Shadow Republican groups formed by longtime party officials and party operatives are raising and spending hundreds of millions of dollars in this election,” says Fred Wertheimer of Democracy 21, a nonpartisan campaign-finance-reform group, “most of which is going to come in the form of secret undisclosed contributions.”

On the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, some rightbloggers (including, we must admit, some of whom we never expected it) were actually somber, reflective, even moving.

But most of them were their usual belligerent selves. Amid their howling one could make out a theme, appropriate to the era of the Burlington Coat Factory Mosque and Koran-threatening Pastor Terry Jones: That Americans were getting soft, and must man up and acknowledge that all Muslims, from Sheik Mohammed down to that guy who makes your bagel at the deli, are trying to kill them.

Assclown Boehner: A GOP Leader Tightly Bound to Lobbyists

They have contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to his campaigns, provided him with rides on their corporate jets, socialized with him at luxury golf resorts and waterfront bashes and are now leading fund-raising efforts for his Boehner for Speaker campaign, which is soliciting checks of up to $37,800 each, the maximum allowed.

More Bullshit From Jan Brewer

“Jan Brewer, governor of Arizona, must enjoy a good ghost story. I mean, she’s certainly good at telling them. To defend her endorsement of the anti-immigrant SB-1070 bill Brewer told the press in July that ‘law enforcement agencies have found bodies in the desert either buried or just lying out there that have been beheaded.'”

This’ll be easy for me, I never liked Target anyway.

Washington (CNN) – A liberal political group and some gays and lesbians have put a bulls-eye on one of the nation’s largest retail giants, targeting the Target Corporation with a massive sales boycott despite an apology from the store Thursday night.

Over the past few months, Congressional Republicans and skittish Democrats who’ve lingered too long at the Deficit Panic Kool-Aid Stand have made life extraordinarily difficult for the most vulnerable members of society — the nation’s unemployed.

Rather than extend unemployment benefits so that the millions of Americans who are out there busting their humps to find the needle-in-a-haystack that is a job of any kind, they’ve demanded that those benefits be offset, essentially punishing the unemployed for the deficits they giddily ran up for years.

Another Tuesday, another round of Republican primaries pitting self-proclaimed Tea Party candidates against their (sometimes slightly, sometimes considerably) more moderate opponents—and yet another sign that the Glenn Beck brigade is a long way from “taking back the country,” despite all the hype.

For several days now, Senate Republicans have ridiculed their Democratic counterparts for prioritizing campaign finance legislation over a bill that would benefit small businesses, arguing that Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) was putting electoral advantages over jobs for everyday people.

On Tuesday, the DISCLOSE Act failed to get the needed votes for cloture, in the process providing the Senate the time needed to move on to other business.  But when leadership brought a revised version of the small business bill to the floor on Thursday morning, they were met with united Republican opposition. Despite complaining about the delay in consideration, Republicans filibustered the measure by a vote of 58 (in favor of cloture) to 42 (against).

We’re only three months away from the midterm election when a shockingly large number of American voters will inexplicably vote for Republican candidates.  I have no idea if this will mean a Republican takeover of the House or Senate or both,  but there will definitely be enough voter support for Republicans to significantly reduce the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate.

Why?  Because too many voters tend to be low-information, knee-jerk Springfield-from-The-Simpsons types,  and the Republicans have lashed their crazy trains to this new wave of inchoate roid-rage to help sweep them into more congressional seats.

Robert Redford   A small minority of Senators robbed America of a cleaner, more prosperous future last week. In the middle of the biggest oil disaster in American history, the hottest summer on record, and a war with an oil-rich nation, this group of cynics blocked efforts to pass comprehensive energy and climate legislation. This was the moment brimming with potential for new jobs, a more robust economy and cleaner environment — this bill would have guided America down a profoundly safer and more productive path.

Republicans strike again; along with some moderate Democrats.  WTF.

You have to see this

Dear MoveOn member,

We’ve just unearthed a shocking new video of right-wing activist Andrew Breitbart.

Breitbart is best known for using highly misleading video “hit pieces” to smear progressives, and his videos have been shown widely by Fox and others.1

Given that, you’d think he’d be more careful about what he says on tape. Guess again.

Check out this shocking video of Breitbart that MoveOn has just obtained:

Is this video real? Hey, video can’t lie, right? Just ask CBS, The Washington Post, Fox, and other news outlets who’ve faithfully covered Andrew Breitbart’s videos.

Last week, Breitbart released a highly edited video purporting to show former USDA official Shirley Sherrod making racist comments. He was exposed as a fraud when the full video came to light and it was clear Sherrod was actually making an impassioned case against racism.2

But for 24 hours, the mainstream media covered the edited Sherrod video as though it were real news—just as they’d covered Breitbart’s equally deceptive videos about ACORN that smeared that organization.3

And that’s why it’s so galling that the media is now ignoring MoveOn’s shocking new video of Breitbart himself. Our video, just as truthful as any Breitbart has ever released, deserves equal coverage from the news media.

So please share this video with your friends today on Facebook and Twitter, and forward this email. Here it is again:

Thanks for all you do.
