Google explores the human body with HTML5

Google has just soft-launched its latest browser experiment, the Google Body Browser, which is basically Google Earth for the human body. If you visit in a supported web browser, you’ll get a three-dimensional layered model of the human anatomy that you can zoom in on, rotate and search. WebGL support hasn’t hit mainstream browsers, but the beta versions of Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox all support it.

Joy Behar repeatedly called Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle a “bitch” on “The View” Tuesday, and said that she is “going to hell.”

Behar’s comments came during a discussion of an ad that Angle released earlier this month. The ad, which focused on immigration and contrasted smiling white children with scowling Latinos, was called “the most overtly racist” ad of the entire campaign by Rachel Maddow on Sunday’s “Meet the Press.” The “View” co-hosts were no less outraged by it, with Elisabeth Hasselbeck criticizing Angle for using children to stoke fear.

But it was Behar who really let loose on Angle.

This apparent disaster-waiting-to-happen is on the Island of St. Maarten. The airport has a particularly short runway that ends just 40 feet from beach, leaving large planes just barely enough room to land. So they have to come in low, directly over the beach, making it a prime destination for an afternoon of quiet, relaxing sunbathing…  via

Woman’s persistence pays off in regenerated fingertip

(CNN) — After running inside from a rainstorm one Friday evening last January, Deepa Kulkarni leaned against the doorway with her right hand to take off her boots. Then, in an effort to make sure the dog didn’t get out, someone slammed the door hard, and it landed right on her pinky.

Kulkarni thought the door had only bruised her finger, but then she looked down and saw the tip of her pinky lying on the floor.

I can testify this works.  The Old Man used a similar treatment when his big toe was rotting off from diabetes.  He still has the toe and it’s completely healed…it looks weird but at his age they would anyway.

LONDON, England (CNN) — God did not create the universe, world-famous physicist Stephen Hawking argues in a new book that aims to banish a divine creator from physics.  Hawking says in his book “The Grand Design” that, given the existence of gravity, “the universe can and will create itself from nothing,” according to an excerpt published Thursday in The Times of London.
“Spontaneous creation is the reason why there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist,” he writes in the excerpt.
“It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper [fuse] and set the universe going,” he writes.

Well, I won’t be drawn into the argument…it could go on for…..infinity.  But I do think it would be intreresting to look for “God” in physics.  Not that I was ever any good at math.  This is the way I solved “pi squared over 6”:

HARRISON, Michigan (NBC News Channel) — Sophie Thomas may own the world’s bravest cat.

The 97-year-old Harrison, Michigan resident was working in her garden recently when her neighbors four pit bulls surrounded her. Sophie says the dogs circled her, growling, before one lunged forward and bit her on the arm. She screamed and struck back, and as she did her cat Tiger jumped into the fray.

Tiger then bolted for the nearby garage. The dogs followed, giving Sophie a chance to escape into her house. As she was washing her wounds in the kitchen sink, she saw Tiger pop up at the door, unharmed.

The dogs are currently under quarantine and their owner has been fined.

King Tut’s Family Secrets

By carrying out CT scans of King Tutankhamun‘s mummy, we were able in 2005 to show that he did not die from a blow to the head, as many people believed. Our analysis revealed that a hole in the back of his skull had been made during the mummification process. The study also showed that Tutankhamun died when he was only 19—perhaps soon after he suffered a fracture to his left leg. But there are mysteries surrounding Tutankhamun that even a CT scanner cannot reveal. Now we have probed even deeper into his mummy and returned with extraordinary revelations about his life, his birth, and his death.

(08-10) 18:04 PDT San Francisco — If Jack Daniels could talk, he could probably explain everything. But alas, Jack can only meow. So it remains a mystery as to how the nearly blind black cat, abducted from the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals a year ago, ended up on the streets of Harlem last week.
